Points positifs : Camping la Chataigneraie in Gravieres is een zeer mooi gelegen, rustige, camping in het Zuid-westen van de Ardeche die wordt gerund door een zeer vriendelijk en betrokken echtpaar. Brood kan iedere avond worden besteld hetgeen dan wordt geleverd door de bakkerij in Les Vans. Sanitair prima. Grote schaduwrijke plekken onder grote oude kastanjebomen zorgen ervoor dat de campingplaatsen beschut (tegen zon en wind) liggen. Op een 15 minuten wandelen een heerlijke rivierbedding. Een verademing om hier enkele weken (of dagen) te verblijven.

Points positifs : The camping owners are very friendly. The camping itself is small, which usually means quiet and the sanitairies are very clean. There is a river nearby, 10 minutes walking distance. On the camping you can buy delicious bread and local products like very good icecream. Nearby villages Les Vans and Naves are worth exploring. There is a nice "Auberge" directly next to the camping with good food.

Points positifs : We had a wonderful time at La Chataigneraie. It's a great location for exploring nature, culture and lots of yummy local foods! Cecile and Jean are the most friendly people who made us feel welcome everyday. Also the swimming at the riverside was a great idyllic place to visit each day to cool off, about ten minutes walking distance. The wednesday bbq was a nice touch for meeting people on the campsite. Tip for vegetarians: there's a local supermarket near Les Vans where they also sell very good vegetarian food: Aux Fermes Des Rayols. And try the ravioli from à l'Aube or pizza from Chez Alex!

À améliorer : There's quite some noise for example from camping neighbours (of course), the cicades and the road nearby. That's not something to fix, but good to be aware of. Also, the weather was super hot! Again not something you can control, but definitely wort to keep in mind when booking your stay.

Points positifs : Peaceful camping with beautifully shaded spots, surrounded by the trees. 10 minute walk to the river where you can bathe and hike. Sanitary was absolutely spotless! Very friendly owners. We would definitely recommend this campsite and will be back in the future.
