Disappointing end to an otherwise great trip. Vehicle was heavily used but clean. Ended up being charged an additional 50% on top of the vehicle hire cost for a tiny, basic wear and tear issue inflicted by prior renters. We hired the vehicle in the middle of summer, and had a great trip through Scotland. The vehicle pick up process was easy. The vehicle itself was average - clean but clearly heavily used. Some warnings were evident on the dashboard, which we were told to ignore. Unfortunately, the handover and post-hire experience was poor. On the first night, we found a tiny rip in the roof canvas that had been missed during the initial pick up vehicle review. This was basic wear and tear from the metal hinge of the pop top and was not inflicted by us. It had clearly been there for some time and that damage had also happened before (per the hirer). Rather than patch this (easy fix), the hirer charged us for an entirely new roof canvas. This was particularly unjust given how basic an issue it was, how frequently it had occurred before (why would the hirer not make this a point to review during pick up?), and that it was not damaged by us. As a result, we paid 50% additional costs on top of the original vehicle hire cost, making this vehicle more expensive than other, newer options on GoBoony. Recommendation is to either find a new vehicle to hire, or purchase the highest level of insurance to avoid being held personally liable for wear and tear that other users have inflicted on the vehicle. Flora's camper van was bag on had everything wee needed clean tidy and well equipped with everything apart from it could do with a night heater and a small TV flora was a brilliant lassie talked us through everything before wee left would defanetly hire from. Her again very nice person to deal with Avril 2025
